“That was unfortunate. It was essentially an exchange with Cowboys supporters out in front of us,” Jones stated during a Tuesday interview. “There was a swarm of Dallas supporters—not Jets fans, Cowboys fans. The entire stadium was filled with enthusiasm for the Cowboys.”
Jones additionally emphasized that the signal was completely unintentional, happening amid the elation following the team’s final touchdown. “I just showed the incorrect finger,” he noted. “The action was inadvertently done. I’m not kidding. If you want to call it unplanned, you can. However, it got corrected pretty quick.”
